Although Matador had undergone two
major operations the year before, one due to colic and the
other due to complications concerning a hernia, Kyra was
so successful in bringing him back to form that they were
able to compete in the World Equestrian Games in Stockholm
1990. Moreover, they achieved their best international result
so far - an individual silver medal.
The following year the pair went on
to win the World Cup final in Paris.
At the end of 1991 Matador was sold to Japan. In 1999 Matador
returned to his breeder in Denmark where he enjoyed life
as a breeding stallion. He died in 2002.
